Penrith Music Club is delighted to welcome the young and gifted Ueda/Rinaldo Duo (violin and piano) who will be performing at Penrith Methodist Church at 7.30pm on Monday 21st February.

The programme begins with Beethoven Variations on Se vuolballare from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, followed by the Reynaldo Hahn Sonata in C major, Stravinsky’sDivertimento (from Le Baiser de la Fee), Vaughan Williams’Studies in English Folk Song, and ending with the Cesar Franck Sonata in A major.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of Vaughan Williams’ birth, and this particular concert forms part of ‘A Lakeland Journey’, a celebration of Vaughan Williams’ music, curated by Lake District Summer Music. Lisa Ueda and Daniele Rinaldo have kindly agreed to perform two works by this great British composer: the Studies in English Folk Songs lll& lV.

The Ueda/Rinaldo Duo brings together two prize-winning soloists in a highly successful collaboration. Among the high-profile engagements previously undertaken by the duo are a much admired Wigmore Hall début in 2015, a highly successful Scotland Tour as a result of winning the Tunnell Trust Award, and a critically acclaimed tour of Japan in January 2016.

The Duo have been described as: "Passionate performers; yet works were polished with much attention to detail, musical shape and structure", and equally: "This duo is destined for great things." (Musical Opinion).

Formed in 2009 at the Royal Academy of Music in Michael Dussek's chamber music studio, the duo received the prestigious Kirckman Concert Society Award, Tunnell Trust Award, and most recently, the Solti Foundation Scholarship Prize. Their first album was released in Dec 2017 on the Heritage label, and the Duo subsequently performed live on BBC Radio 3.

Single tickets at £17 (£2 for students) can be booked in advance before Saturday 19th February, through Penrith Tourist Information (01768 867466) or Beckside Book (01768 895951). Tickets can also be reserved from Colin Marston (01768 863518), to be collected at the door.
